Most people have heard about transsexual people and have probably seen transsexual characters in movies or television soaps. Artistic licence and sensationalism has led to the propagation of a number of misconceptions surrounding transsexualism. Fortunately the situation is being rectified by an increasing number of intelligent and sympathetic documentaries and movies.
